Regarding the winzip/archiver, i have been trying to get winzip support working for stormplayer but could not find a clear example of a winzip file. I then thought of using lha or rar but turned out to be more trouble.

I ended up making a huffman based compression system which i have implemented in java (compress/decompress) and cybiko (decompress).

You find the java bit here:
http://ssjx.freestarthost.com/java.php

It works well for text files but can make files larger(!) this will be fixed by inserting the uncompressed file. I have not released any cybiko files yet because it is still a little rough.

On the cybiko side, i hope to use the huffman stuff for compressed olders and as a frame type for cybiko images (this works). The only real problem is that it is a bit slow, although fitting twice as much stuff on a cybiko would be an advantage.

I plan on releasing the source when it is a bit tidier.

I just wanted to say while I'm using C for my desktop, B2C should be just fine but I would shell out to a smaller program that actually executes the selected program and reloads the desktop after it's done. I believe that's what the normal classic desktop does. Because even though the ? key will say you have say 90k of ram free, I remember initializing 2 32k integer arrays which would use about 128k of ram in an unexpanded classic and it seemed to work fine.

As cybiko files are compressed using filer, i think that the unpacking process uses a lot of memory. I normally find that i can only allocate about 20k.

I am finding that as my programs grow, that amount of memory available becomes much less. I am looking a using .dl library files to minimise the initial load.

Well, thanks for all the input and feedback so far. smile.gif I am working on it when I can since middle/high school has already started and i've been extremely busy. I'm working on the desktop as fast as I can. smile.gif Its most likely that i'll work alot more on it during the holidays.

This project is currently on hold. However i'll continue working on it during the summer. smile.gif I have to dig up the source code for it since I upgraded my computer to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. I'm going to create a webpage which is only dedicated to CyVista which will have downloads, screenshots, source code, updates, and information. I'll let everyone know when i'll have the site for it up. wink.gif i'm about only 5% done with CyVista. I can't really do much with it yet since Windows Vista hasn't come out yet. sad.gif I've been busy lately. I have to reinstall the SDK too so its going to take a while. If anybody has any questions feel free to PM me here(Planet Cybiko Forums) or e-mail me at webmaster@hakuanime.net
